The shaft out of the E II measures .3945 at the spots where the bearings ride. Does anybody know if this is the same as a stock TII Garrett?
I'm getting ready to order a rebuild kit for it, and I want to make sure the bearings it comes with are the right ones.
Thanks,
Tony

A shaft that I have out of a stock TII garrett measured about .410 where the bearing on the comp side of the shaft rides, and right about .400 where the turbine side bearing rides.

Another shaft I have out of a garrett turbo measured .410 at both spots. Much less wear on that turbo when I pulled it apart though.

Thanks man!
I'm wondering if this thing is just worn that bad, or if it's been machined?
Thanks Again,
Tony

I think I just answered my own question. I measured off to the side of where the bearings ride and got the same measurement. This would point to machining and not wear right?
Thanks,
Tony

This just keeps getting wierder by the minute! I got a reply from the people I'm ordering the rebuild kit from and it turns out that the bearing bore diameter in the housing should be .6220 to .6223. Mines .6375.
The od of the old bearing is .6320.
So now, not only am I working with an odd sized turbine shaft, I'm also dealing with a housing that's had the bearing bores machined oversize. I hope these bearings are easy to come by in oddball sizes or I'm just s.o.l. I may end up having to put the engine in the Sundance with a Mitsu unless I can get the right bearings or the money to cover a professional rebuild falls out of the sky.

Thanks, but I'm going to go ahead and ship mine to the outfit I'm working with. They said they would check the shaft and bores for free to be sure to order the right sized bearings. They're also going to balance the rotating assembly while it's there.
