I have a turbo from a spirit R/T here for a core or for a spare. i want to upgrade a little. i dont want to go to a T3/T4 turbo, wna stay with the same pattern whatever. would i see any gains going to a super 60 or super 70 wheel on this type of turbo. if so, how much? car has large FMIC at the moment and thats it. runs 13 lbs of boost. planning on 15-17lbs with 3bar, +40s and stage 3 cal. this is going on my Iroc R/T so its a TIII car

The larger wheel would flow more. At 18PSI or so, going to a bigger wheel would be a decent increase in effeciency.

You would have to get a compressor cover and compressor wheel to do the swap though. YOu would also be wise to have it balanced after you are done.

im not too sure what kind of money you have to toy with, or exactly what kind of power youre looking to make, but what i would suggest is running a .63 turbine housing, and grabbing something like a T04B V-trim like i have on my TC, or something like a T04E 57-trim

while it sounds like a whole lot of turbo, you could run 18psi or so on them without even breathing hard, with a nicely ported exhaust manifold, and a nice free flowing exhaust, it wont take but maybe 300-500 more rpms to reach full boost, and the power potential is there for anything you could throw at it within reason

I know that the Ford 2.3L's and the Dodge 2.2L's have different characteristics, having the only real similar things is close displacement, and 8 valves, but as my car sits, other than a few small things, which are more tuning related, and my catback removed, its bone stock with a T3/T04B V-trim, and it spools pretty quickly to my amazement, thats with a stock exhaust manifold. The reason i say port the exhaust manifold is because the turbo dodge manifolds look very puny compaired to even a stock E6 casting for manifold, if you were able to port it out to at least match the fords, have a good exhaust on it; it will still spool nicely. Plus, while you have it off, its the perfect time to do some porting.

If money is an issue, the parts to build my turbo were all second hand, and off of factory cars/trucks. The T3 with the .63 housing was off of an 84-86 Turbo Coupe, and the T04B housing, backing plate, and wheel were off of a diesel of some sort.

Hey Chris, what kind of compressor housing can i get thats bigger so i could run a larger wheel. i dont need to support over 18 psi and i still want it driveable. and if i want to do this, can i have my core rebuilt with the new cover and wheel and bearings etc and about how much would it be??
