How much oil does a turbo need?

Ok I am confused here: how big should be the oil line that feeds a T3? The stock pipe in a volvo is around AN-6, but I have here this T3 off a Dodge and the connector on the oil inlet sure makes me think it was designed for AN-4. So, how much do I need to keep the poor turbo happily fed? Can anyone shed some light here?

well you need some flow, but you dont want high pressure, so a good setup usually has a restrictor to prevent the turbo seals from being blown out.

Most oil pumps will give you plenty of flow so you should just worry about preventing high pressure.

The slower the turbo is spinning the less oil its going to need, so the motor will take care of that since the oil pump works that way.

I did not know abot the turbo seal issue. So, I should make a plate with a small hole on it so to act as a restrictor? If so, how big should the hole be?

Im really not sure on the exact size. If you are anal about it then you would do pressure tests using different restrictors.

I have seen some that people sell and the restrictor seems very small. I am just relying on the crappy 1/8" elbow in my system where the hole couldnt possibly flow for beans. I should probably go myself and put a real restrictor in.
