T2 turbo

I am told that the t1 and t2 turbo are the same except for the compressor housing I have a bad turbo out of a 87 Shelby-Z T2 and a good turbo off of a 84 Turbo-Z T1 are they exactly the same or do i need to swap fans to?

Just swap the compressor housings. You may want to swap the swingvalve too as the older uses a small flange 2.25" swingvalve and I believe your '87 turbo uses the larger flange 2.25" swingvalve.

do you think i sould rebuild the turbo while i have it out? it is 22 yrs old but the car only had 65,000 miles on it when i pulled the motor
