Are there any upgrades in the turbo, exhaust, ecm or anything else to get more power from an 86 turbo colt? Does anybody know how many of these were produced and what is the factory hp/tq.
Thanks

sure,, an exhoust will give any car more power, especially a turbo car, as far as i know no/least backpressure,=good on turbo cars,, so go for a 2.5 or 3" youll notice it spool faster,,

most of the things you read about on this forum are 2.2 and 2.5 common block aplication,, but most of it applies,, run an intercooler,, front mount is best,, get yourself a boost gauge,, and air fuel ratio meter,, maybe even a wideband controll system,.,, then your ready for a boost controller,,

i dont know what the internals of that motor can take, but obviousely it will be able to take a few, maybe 5 psi more than stock boost as long as your not running lean,, or too hot,, ( be careful and do your research,, im sure someone here can tell you what they will take..

(disclaimer)I am not encouraging that you just start boosting the shit outtof it its not my fault if you blow your motor to bits,,

as far as turbo upgrades,, im sure theres a few tubos that will suit your setup, and give you more power, quicker boost or whatever you want,, but do your research and make sure the motor can take the power

ecm,, you can get into programming the stock ecu (something i know nothing about so dont ask,, or you could go standalone, (an aftermarket fuel and ignition controll computor that you program to run your car, as not to ever run lean etc. i recomend "megasquirt" as it is the most cost effective,,

as for other performance, i always suggest wieght removall, lightening a car icreases every aspect of the cars performance,, braking,, acceleration, handling,, (figures seeing that my other car is a completely stripped rx7)

other than that,, happy turbododge'n

really there is a few different things to add. The boost cut out riser with a G valve and a G valve for starters. They have only 2 POS injectors. Look into extra injectors (cold start) and Hobbs switches to turn them on. With only 2 injectors and an already wet intake you need to. I have had an 84 "the best" but the engines are close. As far as space, tubing size and a front mount use an old Starion/ Conquest intercooler. The mitsu turbo from the 2.5 minis is a great turbo upgrade that allows hoses to hook to it and has a 2.5 exhaust flange. An 89 Shelby Daytona turbo (T3 Garret) would be for bigger power but will lag more. Buy a turbo flange and weld it to you stock exhaust manifold and port it. A blow off valve can be added too. Junk yard parts work great, expensive parts will normally be too big for the 1.6 8v engine anyway so your in luck money wise.

If you don't subscribe to Sport Compact Car, you should find a friend who does, and ask them for their Sept. '05 issue (Vol. 17, No. 09). That issue has a build up of a Mirage turbo (same thing as the Colt) as well as a turbo Omni. Great place to start getting excited at least. I know that's what propelled me to end up here (that and I kept thinking about how cool my parents old turbo minivan could be).

the 4g61 is pretty similar to the 4g63 2.0 dsm/evo engine and a lot of parts are interchangable. a big 16g is plenty turbo to push a light colt into the 11's.

its been a while since i researched them, but there is definately an aftermarket for them

but there is a huge difference between a G32 and a 4G61, just like there is a huge difference between a 86 colt and a 90 Colt. Like telling a guy how easy it is to go to a 2.4 from a 2.0 in a Neon when the guy is driving a GLH, LMAO
