The '88 T1 Shadow I pulled from the junkyard a few months ago and got running. Was coming home from work yesterday and I was gettin on it and all of a sudden the boost dropped from 9psi down to 4psi, then when it shifted from 2 to drive the engine cut out for about 1/4 second then I had absolutely no boost. I was thinkin the wastegate arm popped off. Checked it when I got home and it was in tact. So I pulled the airbox out and the intake tube off the turbo and low and behold it was locked up. I even tried turning it with a screw driver to no avail. So I just put a cone filter on the throttle body. Guess I'll be running N/A until spring.

The exhaust seal on the turbo is leakin like crazy though and putting oil all through the exhaust. Since the turbo is already locked up would it be alright to disconnect the oil line from the block and plug it so I'm not wasting tons of oil?

I don't think it will hurt anything if you disco the oil supply line. The turbo is already pooched. Dont be expecting to get anywhere fast though, without the aid of the turbo moving air, youll be getting wooped by tempos. Our cars really are gutless without the turbo's boost, when my IC pipe kept falling off I tried to do a burnout (5speed) and they spun round like 1.000005 times then it bogged like a v8 running on 3 cylinders.

Yeah you're right. I probably could have gotten smoked by a tempo lol. It only took 2 days of drivin' that friggen thing before I started having bad boost withdrawl. So I went out and got all the gaskets I needed, new cam seals since they were leakin rather badly, new custom made oil feed line to the turbo. A set of 3 gauges. Oil pressure, water temp, and voltage...They're electronic too so no oil line running into the car, and no thermocouple lead. And I also found it odd that the sending units for the gauges are the same ones our cars have for the temp gauge and the oil pressure gauge lol...

But I pulled the head and tossed on a Garrett T2 I had sittin in the basement. Runs really good now, and it don't leak oil no more
