Yes it's a simple direct swap, done it myself a time or two. You will need the Garrett oil & coolant lines.

it is a direct swap, but you need to either pull an axle or the head to change it out. Not a huge deal, definately worth it.

nope, you can pull a turbo and have a new one installed in about 4 hours if you havnt done it before. ive done it about 4 times now. i learned it helps to pull the starter to make things easier to get to.

i never did cause if you do you end up draining the trans fluid. its less messier without pulling them. just get a socket set, some wrenches and jack stands and you should be set. in all honesty, its not that hard

Not that hard MY ASS!!!
If you've got a blow-through intake manifold on the car, it's damn near IMPOSSIBLE to change the turbo in the car without pulling the head.
I built my new 2.2 Turbo on an engine stand, and even then with the swingvalve rod, oil and water lines, etc, it was necessary to rotate the engine on the stand and use wrenches and sockets and U-joints and extensions in just a certain way to get the turbo mounting bolts tight and have everything else hooked up.
And this is with everything clean, good lighting, not in a rush for time, and all the room needed to do it.
DON'T try to pull the turbo in the car. It may be possible if you try hard enough, but it's definitely not worth the effort to save a few bucks on a new headgasket and head bolts, which the engine probably needs anyway.

I swapped my mitsu for a garret in 2 hours. All I removed was the throttle-body, aircleaner and lines to the turbo. Obviously removed all the bolts from the turbo, dropped the exhaust all the way to the passenger side, and believe it or not, pulled the turbo right out from under the brake-booster towards the battery. Even the garret slipped back in without a hitch. Just plan your moves and it will fit through. Removing the axles is way more than you need to do. You don't even need to remove the starter!
But, If the turbo has NEVER been out of the car. You might as well just take the head off anyways. It's most likely due for a head gasket and timing belt.

Yup pull the head with the turbo attached, It will probably weigh about 100lbs so try to have a helper if you are not a big guy.
