I have an 88 Shelby Z 2.2 T2. It will only boost to 5psi. It is also slow to build boost. Any ideas as to what to check. I think the factory boost setting is 12 psi in the upper rpms but I don't get any more than 5 psi at any time. My timing is ok and I have not found any vacuum leaks. It does have a cheap blow off valve on it. How would you check it for leaks? I have a grainger valve to put on it but I would like to keep it factory for now. Thanks.

Stick your had inside the horn on the b.o.v. and push down on the piston, its prob. stuck in the up position. If it is, take it apart and lube the piston with trans fluid, this usually works for about 2 months! Gotta love those 50 dollar ebay speacials!

Then it sounds like the wastgate solenoid could be stuck closed.

I will check the solenoid. The vacuum source should go to the bottom barb and the wastegate hose on the front side, correct? I am assuming the rear barb is the bleed. Does it need its own vacuum source? I have the purge solenoid and the wastegate solenoid vacuum source tee'd together. I hope that is ok. Thanks guys.

I ran seperate vacuum sources for both the wastegate and purge solenoid. I now have my boost back. I now have 6 psi till around 3500 rpm and then it will boost to 12 psi for a few seconds and settle at 10 psi. I am going to put my grainger valve in and set it for 12 psi. Do you need to remove the restrictor in the wastegate line when you put the grainger in? I am going to put the grainger close the the wastegate solenoid. Can I run the wastegate solenoid and the grainger both or should I bypass the wastegate solenoid all together. Thanks for all the help.

Can the factory solenoid be left in place as protection?
