I am going to get a hybrid. I am already spending a bunch of money on everything else, might aswell get a good turbo to go with it.

I am thinking about going with fwdperformance hybrid package for $999. The specs I am looking at are a:
Exhast .63ar stage 1 wheel
Compressor TO4B either super46 trim or super50 trim wheel
I want to go with the TO4B housing because it bolts right up and you don't have to do any crazy stuff to get it to fit right like you do with the TO4E housing.

So what I am trying to figure out is what wheel should I go with? I am not trying to make 400hp. This is a DD road warrior. Stock head, but built up 2.5 short block (forged pistons). Having quick boost response is a must. I would like it to spool up as quick or nearly as quick as a super 60. I don't want to have to wait untill 3k rpms for boost and 4k rpms till I am making power.

So I am just stuck on which compressor wheel to use. Give me some input guys.

Is this a 2.2 or a 2.5? And what is your current setup, there are alot of factors that affect spool. Like Automatic vs. manual, flow mods like head work, bigger valves, header, exhaust. What kind of boost are you expecting to run? I was running a stage 3 .63 A/R turbo on my 2.5 and I was seing boost at 3k it was laggier than expected but I got a high stall torque converter to fix that problem. I think a stage 2 would work good on either a 2.2 or a 2.5, especially with a b series and the right mods.

EDIT: My roomate is a turbo freak, he has compressor maps of about 80 different turbos. It looks like a 50 trim B series would be pretty ideal for your 2.5. Thats I picked it for my van.

There really nothing major I had to do on the DOHC 2.2 to get the E housing to fit. I trimmed 1/2 inch off a ear on the tranny and it fit fine. Not sure on 8V fitment issues. You will make more efficient power with the E as well. So if you can use the E.

Since your 8V (I assume), stage 1 would be fine or stage 2 if you are going to wind it up to 6500+. I say 50 trim and if spool is the major factor Stage 1 is a must. I spooled 25 psi at 3600 on my 16V w/ stage 2

I would really like to see the maps for a 50trim TO4E and a map for a 50 trim TO4B... although I am thinking I am going to go with the super trim because even though I have no idea what the difference is it sounds better with the super in there
