There really nothing major I had to do on the DOHC 2.2 to get the E housing to fit. I trimmed 1/2 inch off a ear on the tranny and it fit fine. Not sure on 8V fitment issues. You will make more efficient power with the E as well. So if you can use the E.
Since your 8V (I assume), stage 1 would be fine or stage 2 if you are going to wind it up to 6500+. I say 50 trim and if spool is the major factor Stage 1 is a must. I spooled 25 psi at 3600 on my 16V w/ stage 2
