yes, you got hosed, big time. Used turbos go for $60 at the junkyard around here. I've bought used turbos, and dry with no oil in them have had absoloutely no play in the shafts.

man i went to mopar nationals in carlisle pa and got a t-2 for 150$ it had shaft play in it... but i decided for that price if it lasted 6 months it was worth it... well it last amost 7 and when it went out... it went... broke fins off the turbine and all... i cussed that turbo twice as much as the stock one... but it also allowed me to save up for the super 60 i have now... its all in what you want.. if you try it... it might last 2 weeks or a year... you never know... how much boost do you run... if its only stock boost then your fine... LOL i spiked that used turbo to 25 a few times.... (not on purpose) but i did run 20 all the time.... and it sucked it up for a long time....

not to be a buzzkill, but I got a crapload of garrett turbos at the j/y for $15 a peice... None of them were T2's, and you can generally get $100-150 for a T2 in good shape. Nothing you can do about it now, run it and see if you can employ the greater fools theory on a honda kid. Give them a ride when you've gotta hybid turbo on there and tell them its all stock and you just happen to have an extra stock turbo kicking around for a great deal if they wanted it : D
