This isn't for our motors, but would anybody have any suggestions or info as far as turbocharging a big block? Say a 440, 454, or 460. Would a turbodiesel turbo work? What sized carb? Any help would be nice. I'm also doing research on the side. Thanks guys.

good info there, if you wanna go single, think big. Should have posted this in the "other turbocharged vehicles" section. Oh yeah, invest in slicks, big, big slicks and an axle to take it all too.

Contact TD member "FEETS". He's got a TT440 in a 65 Belvedere. I'm sure he can direct you to whomever you need to speak with.

I'm pretty sure a diesel turbo will not work on a gas motor.

Ya, a deisel and gas turbo is on in the same. They have nothing to do with what the engine fuels with.

Here's a link to his website, though he hasn't updated the site in a couple years as he's made a few changes to his setup.

I dont believe this is the case anymore, or if it even was true to begin with, but I was told at one time that a diesel turbo would not work and a draw through carb turbo setup on a gas motor. The reason being that supposedly the seals were different. On the draw-thru setup you will create a vacuum between the carb and compressor, and the seals weren't set up for the negative pressure and you would suck the oil out of the center housing and pump it right into the intake. Like I said this was only told to me, by several people I may add, but never talked to anyone who actualy had it happen.

Back when I lived in NY I had a friend who took a turbo off a Frieghtliner and turboed a 383 RoadRunner, and it orked fantastic. I dont know what he did to it but it worked. Now arent there only two ways the pressure will run?? And both ways have been run on gas motors.

I had heard the same thing, about the seals and such. I also noticed over the years a deisel turbo turbin is larger than the compressor, or pretty close to one another. Maybe i'm wrong, but I think they are setup for much lower RPM. And look at the manifold to turbo mount on a deisel turbo, most I have seen have a V ring, or some kind of compression fit that does not resemble a gas turbo.

HX35 is a diesel turbo....seems to work good on gas apps. There are no physical differences between turbo's they all work the same. If you are using a draw thru setup on a gasoline engine then you have to modify the turbo for that application.
