know it's been done. I know it's kind of a pain, but I'd rather not pull the head to replace my 87 t2 daytona garrett turbo with the super 60 unit. How much of a pain is it to remove. I'm just thinking... pull the downpipe off and remove it to gain more room, remove the oil and coolant feed and return lines. It's just the 4 bolts that attach to the manifold. I'm guessing there's issues getting good access to them. Any one have any tips? Would removing the swingvalve/wastegate and actuator help provide a bit of extra room? Once it's unbolted is it easy to get out or do you have to wrestle to get it out from under the car. Thanks.

Take the front and rear motor mount off.

Be warn, you'll stress both side motor mounts if you rotate your motor too much.

I got my super 60 off in about 1/2 an hour without touching the motor mounts. I did it all from the underneath. On a rack I could have done it even quicker.

i never touched motor mounts, didnt have to remove the Down piple just unbolted it out of the way and nudged it down after disconnecting one of the hangers. if your gonna put the super 60 in, then i recomend removing the starter. it gives you a little more room for rotation and such when your back there if its gone.

definetly possible, and good luck, it really helps to have an extra pair of hands, so one person can handle the turbo while underneath the car, and one on top.
