ok so i have been noticing a few problems lately with my turbo k car.. strange syptoms and some simple questions..

ok i have been having problems when my car is a bit cold.. it likes to bog and do all sorts of sill sputtering under moderate acceleration.. as soon as it sees 3+ psi of boost..

ive been doing the timing and i had a quick question... the manual says to
1 disconnect my coolant sensor then re connect it then do the timing...
and ive heard otherwise...
2 just leave it disconnected when doing timing... (im setting it to 12* every time...
when i use method 1 the way the haines says to it stays steady at `12*. at idle, but when i do it method number 1 and then plug back in the sensor it goes down to 8* at idle is this normal.?

mods.,.. big ic. 3" free flow exhoust and no fuel mods.. i think theyre stock 2.2 injectors on it... and it never has power in higher rpm aka abover 4500 running 13 psi... do in need bigger injectors help me get this thing ready for the track..

cam timing is good... i could check it again, but i took my time when i did it and im pretty sure it hasnt skipped a tooth,,, oh ya another problem anyone have this...

my distributor exploded...

the little ceramic piece that triggers the crank angle sensor fatiged and broke destroying everything else inside the dizzy now i gotta go a new one is there a cheap alternative to a better dizzy i think ill get one from the wrecker and then put shrink wrap over the ceramic piece so it doesnt happen again,,, as long as theres clearance...

thanks Glhnslt2

The ceramic is plastic and when you get a replacement check for play between the plastic and metal shutter wheel. The 2 melted plastic rivets were probably getting loose, the shutter wheel hit the hall effect,=a bunch of little pieces. Did the timing jump around more than usual??

ya i think thats what happened. cause when i did my timing i noticed that i didnt get a very steady reading... that could have been the cause of my timing problems.,..

thanks Looneytuner

can i buy a new shutter wheel? that would be better by far...

method 2 does not work for me... maybe its my timing gun. but when i used method 2 aka disconnecting the temp sensor alltogether and then adjusting the timing it just sputters and falls on its face makes popping noises, cant figure it out...

yes i reset the battery every time.. yes the dial on my timing gun is set to zero and im using the markings on the flywheel...

when i use method 1 again it works great and i get descent power for 13 psi././

so im leaving it there till someone can tell me how to do method 2 properly

thanks
