Well the knock sensor did it! My Turbo Lebaron lives!! And doesn't ping itself to death either!

Hooked up the boost gauge today and I noticed that anything over 5lbs Boost, the needle kinda swings back and forth maybe 2lbs or so like it doesn't know what to do. I was wondering if this is because of my Setup:

'88 Mitsu T1 Engine, T2 InterCooler, T2 Daytona Computer. Automatic Trans.

It's a nice steady pull until over 5lbs and you can feel the car hesitate with the pulsations on the gauge.

Where do I go from here?

Do you have a grainger hooked up? What is your vac at idle? Did you install an air charge temp sensor when you put in the T2 computer?

Sounds most likely to be vac leaks to me. Or possibly a WG can that is starting to go

The car is graingered.... backed all the way off for lowest boost.... which doesn't help much as it still goes +15 many times. Anywho, vacuum is 19-20 in. hg. at idle and steady. Air charge temp sensor IS installed and hooked up. All my vacuum lines are new except one and I'm about to replace it.

It has since stopped surging since I put the orifice in the line to the wastegate. Next up, is to stop the pinging! She's going WAY lean under boost.

Going way lean durring boost is VERY bad...i would replace the O2 sensor and go from there...or, maybe a vac leak by the fuel regulator? check your vac line from there to be sure your FR isn't leaking.....after all that, i would hook straight vacuum to the wastegate....the car should boost to bout 6 or 7...maybe your g-vavle is bad?

I'm going to test the fuel regulator and replace the fuel filter..... maybe even the pump too.... it is a 20 year old car, might not be a bad idea either way.
O2 sensor is new.... basically EVERYTHING on the motor is new. I'm gonna try the straight vacuum to the wastegate. It mostly pings between 0 and +5 boost - anything over it SOUNDS ok.... but still shows lean on my A/F meter.

Lean enough that NO lights are lit!
