my turbo was smoking after first install, it is a rebuilt unit so i took it to a turbo service shop and they say the turbo is perfect... it smokes real bad and ive turned the engine on without the turbo and its flawless, i have a custom oil return setup but its a 5/8 hose and its real nicely routed i dont think thats my problem at all ,, what you guys think?

how long did you run it for when the smoke started? could it be the assembly grease/oil that was used during it's rebuild that was just burning off?

thanks cris ill use it as a debugging guide when i get the turbo back on the car, the turbo was sold as rebuilt and 0 miles, i took it to the shop and they told me it looks perfect, as for the set up its a tbi to turbo convertion and i made the reurn line with a turbonetics oil return flange hooks up to a 5/8 fitting and to a 5/8 hose its real big and the hose dosnt have serious angles to it,

before removing the turbo i did this:

remove the oil supply line, blocked it of the sending unit, and i added oil to the turbo manually, i turned on for 10 seconds and added oil and it didnt smoke then sometimes it would smoke a little , no reving to the engine was done

i do not have a pvc valve i have the valve cover open to athmosphere

i used a gasket for the oil retun flange in the turbo , no rtv
