Okay, here is the deal. The turbo on the spitfire is a garret from a 2.3 ford. I don't get max boost until about 4200. I prefer the quick spool I am getting in the minivans, max at 2300, from the mitsu's. What compressor housing size could I go to that would give me a quicker spool. Part of my problem with the car is that at 1900 pounds I don't seem to be putting the motor under a 'load'. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Patrick

hehe nothing's gonna spool like a mitsu with an Auto and a 2.5 motor Have you ported the exhaust manifold? I know you're limited on exhaust size a bit but the bigger you can make it the better as you know. How's that side pipe flow? The .63 2.3 turbo is almost as large as a Super60 turbo. If you're using the ford swingvalve it's also highly restrictive. But a 2.2 with short gears is gonna have a bit of a hard time spooling it unless you have some porting done in the motor. I'd try and find a stock T2 garrett. You'd probably have to reweld the flange setup and the exhaust but it would spool better and not choke the motor off in the upper ranges of the revs like a mitsu would. Shoot me an email. I don't have your current email addy.

If I remember it is a .63 and I did clean up the exhaust manifold some. The manifold isn't a log but an N/A that has had a flange welded on. As far as the motor goes it revs freely all the way to redline and gets there way faster then any other TD I have had. Regarding the sidepipe there isn't much there except I may just pull it because of ground clearance problems in which case I would dump straight down. I did clean up the swingvalve some but I was looking for the non-existint 3".

I would be happy to trade you the .48 on my merkur for your .63 if you want to try that. but even with a .63 it should spool way sooner than that, especially on a 2.5.

It's a 2.2 in the spitfire, but then again maybe I am just expecting too much. If you want to trade give me a call. I can have it pulled off in a minute or two.

One of the IHI's off of the later fords would spool up quicker than the .63 garret.
