Can i change the center section of my turbo without having to remove the head off the car? or is it pretty much "impossible" i want to change the turbo on my 91 shadow because its blowing oil in the exhaust and intake. i have braded SS lines on the turbo so i know those will come off fairly easily. this has probably been covered already but i wasnt sure.

just pull the whole turbo, it will be less work and there will be less chance of getting crap in the engine

do I search, I did a pretty much step by step removal guide in another thread. If you have any questions just ask and I can explain better or take pictures, I probably left some stuff out since I've had to do it so many times : ( It can be done, but its a PITA, and if your headgasket hasn't been changed in a while it may be worth while to pull the head off.

if you've got 10 miles on the HG pull the turbo without pulling the head. Its really not as hard as people make it out to be. The lower left nut requires some tricky wrenching, but really not terrible.

I agree, leave the head. May take some extra work, but not as long as pulling the entire head.
