I know many people have had issues with rusted out wastegate rods. I recently repaired my rusted out wastegate rod on my '85 Daytona and also upgraded it to be adjustable. I chopped off the badly rusted area so only 1.5" of rod was sticking out of the can. Then I threaded that with a die (harder than it would seem to get the die straight). Then I took a long carriage bolt and chopped the head off. I heated the end up with a torch till it was orange and then pounded it with a hammer until it was flat. Then I drilled a big hole in the flat spot. Then I found some nuts and a coupler and put it all together. I am able to put more tension on the swingvalve now which should help to keep the swingvalve from opening prematurely. I won't know until I get the car back on the road, though. (sorry, I can't figure out how to make the pictures smaller). Could someone enlighten me?
