I have a problem with my car (my first car im only 19)...Its a 1986 Turbo Dodge Daytona CS. When i got the car we put in a rebuilt engine and when we took it for a test drive the turbo would max out at 14pounds and cut out...we thought it was the performance computer the guy put in (which wasnt even right for the car) and put a stock computer in but im still having the same problem...Anyone know or have any ideas on what i can do?

Any information will be helpful...this is my first car and i dont know too much as u can tell..im learning as i go along

Thanks alot!

I bet your vac lines to the boost control solenoid and wastegate are not hooked up. Turbo dodge computers shut down the engine at 11-14 psi boost to prevent damage

you could use a grainger valve which a lot of people do

www.thedodgegarage.com
www.minimopar.com

Go there and read.

You do NOT want to go over 14psi with only stock injectors. Unless you like melted pistons.

Well i checked the vacuum hoes from the back of the wastegate and they are connected to the solenoid thats marked yellow...but there are three places the two hoses could go the top side and bottom the two wires were connected to the top and bottom is that right?

i have the same problem with my car (1987 daytona shelby z) and i 'think' there is a boost limiter on the car, plus with a stock turbo you shouldnt get much more then 14 lbs with it anyways and as far as melting pistons go, i have an after market turbo (super 60 pack turbo, stage 2 bla bla bla) and stock injectors and i havent had any problems with melting pistons and ive been driveing the car for well over a year with my current set up, but maybe the shelby edition has better injectors stock...im not overly fermilliar with the CS. but yea back to your problem:P i would bring out your bible on the car and check for a boost control of some kind,(does it cut right out at 14 lbs and almost sound like the cars completely stalled out and gives you a bit of a jerk?)

All turbo dodge comes with 2 bar map sensor which means the car computer can only see up to 14.7 PSI of pressure. The fuel cut is right around range. Once again, go to the links I put in to read more about how your turbo dodge works.

Well i figured out the problem the vacuum lines that are connected to the wg solenoid werent connected in the right spots...the guy that had the car was a real piece of work and this was just another thing he did wrong on the car.

Thanks for for the help everyone!
