In january 2005 I bought a rebuilt garret from fwd preformance, In August 2005 the turbo as burned up it has a very big shaft play I resended it to fwd performance. I recieved it during april 2006 I install it again. It goes pretty well but last week I rolled very fast in the 4th gear the turbo as boosted to 12 psi and sudently my engine start to lost power I checked into my mirror and I seen a large amont of smoke and a big oil smell came of the muffler. After I checked my prestone it is ok and I start to check the car I saw oil on my swingvalve and on my downpipe and some small bubble of oil on my rear bumper. I putted of the turbo and what I saw was horrible. My turbo is broken again . The exhaust turbine felt free from the shaft and it broken my housing and the seal on the exhaust side all the oil of the turbo goes into my maniflod and exhaust system I need a turbo fast!! but I am not able to find one and I fed up to send it and to recieve it 6 month later I need my car to go work. If I can't find an other turbo can I remove it and roll without or Can I rebuilt it by myself. Thanks

You should be able to rebuild it yourself. Rebuild kits can be found on ebay. You could find a used exhaust wheel or spring for a new one. I have one here but the ring land needs to be fixed. It is too sloppy. I took mine to a local deisil shop that rebuilds turbos.

They pointed out what was wrong with mine. Which was the turbine shaft was scored (polished out), the center housing was scored (machined and oversized rings), and the ring land was too sloppy (picked another used one)

I found out that we can get overlapping rings (not sure the proper name), that seal better than the regular ones.

I also cryoed all the parts to hopefully help it last.

How Can trust you I trusted the gys who rebuilt mine and my turbo is always broken the feed line send a very good quantity of oil to the turbo because when the turbo broke I have a big amount of oil on the gound and in my intercooler but this time the turbo was in good shape no trace of shaft play but the turbine has been weld on the shaft and the weld has a very bad penetration we can see it on the shaft ?? Usualy the turbine is not weld on the it is bolt ??

sounds like u got an oil feed or drain problem.. the little piece of rubber line on the oil feed will look like a clogged artery if u have an original.....

The few exhaust wheels I have seen are part of the shaft.

Because of the 2 year no fault warranty policy.
If the turbo goes bad in two year, guess who have to give out money to fix it?

Don't fear the punctuation. And a little proof reading can't hurt.

are you letting your turbo warm up for a minute before driving and cool down for a few minutes after hard driving? I dont think the problem is FWD-P's turbos, b/c they are a very reputable shop and the chances of them giving you a bad turbo twice is rare.

In regards to the turbine wheel on the shaft: I'm not sure about other turbos, but on the stock Mitsu, TEO4H-13C, the exhaust turbine and shaft are ONE piece. The compressor is attached via a nut.
