Hi!
I just bought an 89 lebaron T1 convertible w/ the 2.5 and mitsu turbo. After driving it 50 miles, the turbo started whining loudly, and when I pulled over, it was smoking. It also makes a grinding noise at higher RPMs. Now I know why the previous owner had it on Ebay!
Luckily, Chryslers at Carlisle was this weekend, and walking around, I found a garret turbo bolted on an exhaust manifold, labeled "86 2.2 minivan". It was the only turbo I saw down there. The vendor said they pulled it off a minivan, but the guy's son said he thought it came off of a car. Can I get this to work, or will I need to change the computer and injectors and other things? As far as I can tell, the car is unmolested and totally stock. 89000 miles on it.
Can I get the Mitsu rebuilt, and how much would it cost?
Thanks for helping out a newbie who has racked up 50 miles on his car before it died!
