Hello, i was just wondering what is the stock amount of boost a 1986 dodge omni with a turbo one setup will put out, also what is the safest amount you can make this turbo produce without causing damage, is 10-12 to much, i need help with this one, i don't have that much knowledge on this one.

Should be around 11 stock.. I've heard of people running 14 on a log without a problem. They may have been running like 94 octane which isn't available everywhere.. What's the best you can readily buy in your area? How many miles are on your engine? Seems as they get older and have more blowby, you can get away with running more boost because the effective compression is lower.. haha..

weren't the '86 TI's 9 psi engines?
or were they 7 psi? it's one of those but not 11 psi right?

there's numerous questions like yours ZENARC on "what is the most boost i can run safely", and there is going to be a lot of different answers/opinions you will get.

the T1 engine is a 2 bar logic module/MAP sensor meaning the computer can only adjust fuel/spark curves for boost up to 14.7 psi, so thats one limitiation. also, your TI is not intercooled, so the temp. of the intake charge is also something that will limit the "safe boost" on your engine otherwise you risk detonation and damage to pistons. etc.

with no intercooler and no additional fuel system upgrades i would put the safe boost cap on a '86 TI at 12 psi. max.

Yeah, I think you're right on the 7-9psi.. I think the MP module turned it up to 11 though..

intercooled and with +20 injectors i run 20 with no problems at stock fuel pressure

never had a non intercooled omni, but they are always going to be slow unless you alcohol/water inject them so id just forget about doing anything until you intercool it. the cars quickly become monsters for what they are with just a little bit of work

Always slow? Bah.. I ran 14.9 non intercooled in my Omni.. Not wicked fast, but definitely not slow either.

i guess its just all relative. 13's is kind of my threshold for calling something quick.. i dont think i could ever get excited about a 15 second anythin g regardless of what it ran stock

there was a guy on here that ran a 12 something non intercooled wasnt there? i dont remember if he was using water injection or not but i remember seeing some impressive time out of a hot piped omni

my point was just that its so cheap and easy to intercool an omni that i dont see the point in running on the edge to squeeze out a high 14 when you can safely run mid 13's all day for just a couple hundred bucks for the tII stuff and some decent tires

the seat of the pants diofference between 14.9 and 13.5 is definately worth the effort imo hehe
