I'm going to be getting the Turbonetics T04E T3/T4 turbo soon and if I bolt that to the factory manifold, will I have to have a 90 degree elbow right off the turbo? Or will the compressor clear the block?

Its almost a direct bolt on. I run the B cover on my car and it fits fine. The IC hose is tricky but if you have the smaller starter it will be do-able.

That dodgegarage link above is kinda a big hassle and PITA. You dont need to do half of the stuff it says you need to do.

All the stock oil lines and even the stock exhaust will fit fine.

Stock T2 hose will slip right on. Its tight when installing the clamp, but it works fine.

i had a t04b and it fit fine just used a 45* rubber elbow but the t04e is bigger.
