Ok, first off, yes I got a real one and not an ebay knock-off

What I was confused about is the washers. It says that you just add them till the motor idles right... sounds too easy.

What is the *proper* way to do this?

And yes, I realize this thing is way too loud... perfect for a van

I run 3 washers in mine. I don't know what they mean till the engine idles right. If it blows off sooner than you want add washers. If it doesn't blow off very well when you want it, take out washers.
later,
Cindy

Depending on boost, I used all of them (5)at 25 psi. I wanna be sure it stays closed. But like Cindy said keep adding or subtracting until your happy.

I'm stock at the moment, but this isn't going in till I put in my intercooler and matching TurboXS boost controller... going to set that around 12psi.

"until it idles right" is for mass air cars which can't figure out where the extra air is coming from or going to. You can just add washers until the valve is shut while you are idling so you won't need to worry about a filter. Also, you may need to add washers to have it hold boost.

BTW, if you wanted your BOV to be obnoxiously loud (why else would you get a RFL?), I think the 1st gen DSM one is MUCH louder. It's only subjective, but I've got an RFL on my talon, and my friend has one on his van, and niether of those are as loud as the DSM valves on my friends spirit, and my other friends van. Maybe you have to get up past 15psi for the RFL to take over?

The RFL is something like 120db... way louder than any stock or most any other aftermarket bov. You need at least 11psi boost to even use it, I'm sure the more you have the louder it will be.

You can adjust it to blow off at any psi you want. Have you used either of them? I've had both (a real RFL) and @ 15psi and under it's not as loud. I've not had the nuts to go past that on any fuel system so far, so it could get louder with more boos I also get the RFL to sound @ around 5 or 6 psi. You could hear the DSM one from a block away over my open downpipe, it was awesome!

Maybe it's a pitch thing where the DSM isn't putting out as many DB's but it's at a higher pitch so you're more sensative to it? I dunno, it's loud as hell though.

i just put mine on today, but i still think i need more tuning ...

i didnt know what to use to block off the stock hole where the stock bov was... (tiii engine) ... i ended up plugging it with a big oil drain plug ...

any1 know a good hose to "T" for my boost gauge ???

i had it with the stock bov but now that i have my rfl on, its not reading right.
(im pretty sure it has something to do with venting to at.)

any help would be great

The fuel pressure regulator is a good place for a boost gauge. That's where all mine have gone at least.
