T2 cars did not come with a BOV. You're not going to break it not running one. You should though, they sound cool and if you're planning on keeping the car for a while you'll see long run benefits.
At those boost levels ANY stock BOV from any turbo car will work. It's not a setting that gets a valve to pop off, it's a series of conditions. The vacuum has to be enough to draw the valve up, and the boost has to be high enough to push the valve open. People ditch stock valves because they leak, none that I've ever heard of leak @ 14psi though. (Most) stock valves are non adjustable. All TD valves are non adjustable. They should also flow plenty to keep you out of surge.
The other nice thing about a stock plastic BOV is the mounting. They go on with hose clamps instead of flanges. Less welding, less BS to deal with.
I've also seen hundreds in junkyard over my days.
