Compressor housing gasket or gasket maker?

Has anyone used RTV or gasket maker on their turbo compressor housing? I know the gasket is only a buck, but I can't find one locally. Any suggestions on this? I also have a sheet of thin gasket material that I could try to make one from.

Do you really want to risk taking the turbo out and doing everything over again?

Not sure I see a significant risk. If you read through the other thread on this topic, it seems that either no gasket, or some anaerobic sealant is just as effective. I am definitely going to order some of these gaskets for future occasions, but the 1-2 week wait for these outweighs the very slim chance I will see any problems by not using them.

I'd leave it off rather than trying to seal it by other means.

After some thoughtful consideration....
clearances are pretty cozy between the compressor housing and compressor wheel, would leaving the gasket out change the clearances? I don't know how thick the gasket is, but judging by the remains of the old one, I would think that it would be significant enough to make some difference. On the other hand, the way the housing is secured should prevent it being drawn in any closer than it would with the the gasket. Meh.

Call turbosunleashed and I am sure they can ship right away. If not gpopshop
ships fast too. If you use anything else, you may have an issue taking it appart(at best).

Did the old one have a gasket in from the factory?
If not, you are going to space out the compressor housing from the wheel and cause the wheel to
"slip" and heat up the air and lose efficiency. Tough call, I put the gasket on on a t1 log garret that may not have come with one, lets see how she spools.
