I know this has been beat to death but heres the deal. I just got a 91 shadow with a 2.5 turbo. the guy I bought it from said the head may be cracked so he gave up on it. I also have a 87 daytona with a 2.2 t-1 (log style). The plan is to take the head and the garrett turbo from the 87 and put it on the 91. Will the cam on the 87 head work ok on the 2.5? I understand its a different cam from 97 to 91. Also, I plan to intercool the turbo and increase the boost in the future, will the garrett be worth modifying to put it on the 2.5 engine.

It will work but you should use the cam and roller followers from the 91 and also the the manifolds from the 91, you can buy an adapter for the front of the garret so it will just hook up to your piping just like stock it costs around $40 but check out www.Donovan's Dodge Garage and go to the turbodatabase.

Tu sells the adapter. And check the rotation of the roller cam in the old head to check for binding. Probably plastigauge the journals also.
First pull the 91 head and have it pressure tested. If good, get the valves reworked and new guides and seals. And use the MP 005 head gasket from a vendor here.

Thanks for the quick answers. Im still planning this operation...I read somewhere that the cam used in 87 was a more "radical" cam than what was put in the 91 engines. also I heard the non roller followers are a better choice. I just want to do what is going to work the best and make the most power. Any thoughts on that?????
