I was kind of wondering since the Neon heads seem to be such a good fit for the K engine, i was kind of getting to wonder what other heads from other engines would fit on to a 2.2/2.5. Even wierder, do any V8 heads fit? Imagine a 2.2 hemi turbo. I wonder if that would fit.

Given a little time welding, a little time machining, a little bubblegum, and maybe somewhere to spin a cam and some pushrods, thread in some rocker studs, a couple other little patches here and there and voilą,,,a modern Hemi sculpture. But it will never run. IMHO anyways.

Now... Ma Mopar does have a race only 4 cyl. push rod block available for the roundy round types that uses the smallblock type race heads. Different story.
No it will NOT bolt up directly to a FWD type transaxle. But given a little time welding, a little time machining, a little bubblegum, etc...this might work. Actually this was the block Shaun Carlson was originally building his FWD pro race srt project around a few years back until the sanctioning body squashed the plan on him, and plan B was the SRT 2.4.

I know that a volvo DOHC head fits (with some work) onto a 2.3 ford pinto engine.

inorder to figure this out, one key issue is bore size and spacing. if you can find this out, it makes crossbreeding a lot easier to determine compatability

There was an old (VERY old) ford engine that had the same bore spacing - Kent engine? I don't remember for sure. But, it was one of the the most popular 4-cyl engine for racing in the 60's. The stock engine was a pushrod, but both Lotus and Cosworth made DOHC heads to fit the same basic design. Though, the Lotus head was still only 8V. One problem will be that it only ever had a max bore of ~85mm (I think). So, the valves may be smaller than what you could ultimately run with a TD-size bore (87.5+mm). Plus, they were all produced in the 60's and 70's. So, good luck finding one now - they're collectable. You probably still have the problem of lining up the oil and coolant holes, too.
