too much boost? need help fast

i have a 1985 dodge shelby charger with the the 2.2 and im puting out 12.5 psi of boost but i have a 4inch down pipe with a stoped up cat if i run open down pipe at the drag races sunday will that be too much boost? any clues on how much boost ill be puting out

Im going to try and help. This will probably help others help you, and me lol.

Do you have a boost gauge?
I think at 15 if your running a stock computer u will hit overboost.
If you have a manual boost controller you'll be fine and able to tune in the amount back to 12.5.
It will change the amount of boost because the turbo will spool easier and you will probably spool sooner and faster. It will go up, but how much I can't tell you.

i do have a boost gage however i do not have boost controler so i as long as i dont hit 15 psi im good right?

If you hit 15 PSI, you might also hit the windshield
Thats cause at 15PSI the fuel cut happens,.
I hit it a few times....fun stuff.
So to answer your question , yes ,you will be ok b/c your car should limit boost to 15 PSI
Over 15 PSI and you will need to add fuel so that you dont run lean and cause possible engine damage.

Keep in mind boost presure is a measure of how much air CAN'T get through the motor. So more than likely, if your cat is plugged and you remove it, your boost will go DOWN not up. Don't despair though, you will make more power at a lower boost level if you ditch a cat that is plugged Now if you used a manual boost controller and dialed it back up to 12.5 after removing the cat, you will notice a big power increase

Brad is this a silver and blue shelby charger by any chance it might be my old car? but I only had a 3" downpipe with high flow cat exiting before drivers rear tire. I am trying to track it down let me know
