Your 2.5 T1 should have a BOV from the factory. It's in the airbox. But it isn't terribly strong so it could rupture with high boost. Get a first gen DSM valve or an aftermarket one. Most folks make a mounting tube and put it in line from the intercooler to the throttle body. Lots of info and pictures of some good setups on this forum if you look around.
If you want to up the boost, you'll need a manual boost controller. The vendors sell different ones. You can also find one on eBay or make your own. Look around a little. There's TONS of information on them also. With that little Mitsu turbo (stock for the 2.5), you'll want to put an intercooler on your car for anything upwards of 12 PSI. You could run 10 or so now and be perfectly fine.
On a final note, if you aren't sure of what has been done to the car and what condition the internals are in, take some time to go through everything before you modify it. The usual points are a must: plugs, wires, timing, fluids, etc. Maybe check the turbo shaft for play too. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get an air fuel gauge since you'll be upping the boost past what the computer was set for. It has some room to play, just need to watch everything and make sure you don't get too far out of the computer's ability to compensate.
