anyone who has run a s70 turbo a few questions/opinions

- how did you like the spool up
-how was street duty
-don't care about the drag aspect as the car will be a roadrace /auto-x set up
-what boost level were you running and at what rpm does it hit

My thought is, NEVER have anyone clip the turbine. It ruins the s70.

I bought a Super70, but haven't tried it yet. It supposedly went 12.5@113 in an Omni.

I am the one who has the clipped wheel on the s70. I would not take this turbo if someone gave it to me! Me and one other local guy got them for our RT's. He didnt do a wheel clip, I did. My car spools slow, way, way, way slow. And his is almost as bad. If you bog it, forget getting boost for years. If it looses spool inbetween shifts, its laggy. I am not happy at all with my s70. Maybe its just my setup, but if I were to be given an s70, I would sell it and buy a real turbo. We are both ditching our s70's. His is gone and mine is on its way out.

I was never happy with my S70. Infact the guy I sold it to took it apart and found that the reason it is able to flow so much more than a stock T3 is because of excessive clearance between the turbine and the housing. Vendors will tell you that it does not create more lag, but I think Cory and I would disagree. I you are not concerned with track duty, then thos is exatcly what you dont want. Get something that will spool super quick if you are using it for auto x. An s60 or even a stock T2 will work great for that.

I have one on my 2.2 Daytona Shelby Z. I built it myself with some assistance from a local diesel shop. Used a 86 GN Compressor housing and wheel, found a Stage I .63 exhaust housing to use. The everything was cryoed when it was apart.

I like it. It spools fine for me; about 3k. Hard to compare with my stock TII turbo as the set up has changed a few times. I am expecting it to spool a little quicker with the new mpgmike ported head going on the car.

I have not run crazy boost with it yet. Just up to 15ish. That is on a very mild ported (machine shop said they 'cleaned' it up, I 'edged' the chamber myself and had two Singh Grooves) head with stock sized valves (3 angle/back cut), matched up intake and log exhaust mani, 3" SV and exhaust.

Here are some threads I had bookmarked on the S70.

Info on the Super 70

S60,S70 turbos.... How's my understanding?

And it was my car that turbo was on. It worked great for me. Super 60 cam and ported head, it would be spooled up around 3500 rpm's.

Hey, sounds great! It's still sitting under my computer desk, this spring it's going on. Actually, I thought I was going to be pulling the head tonight for a minute or two, had a car creeping up behind me, so I thought I would "educate" him, pounded on it at low revs in 4th, and then a huge POOF! I watched my mirrors for smoke, but the car kept driving, just no boost. This is the first time ever I blew an intercooler coupling off.
Anyways, how many psi's did it put out? I have everything ported on my engine, 2.2, 3.3 elbow intake, and a custom G head cal. I was wondering if porting the compressor housing outlet would be good or bad for it...

i WAS running an mp plus unit right with a tbi header mp head and 20psi. the plus unit was at full song by 2500. so anything much higher than that will to much lag for me. but i do need something that will support more hp more effeciently.

If you had a real MP+ unit on there then you know the compressor is a 60trim. Going S60 isn't going to add much, if anything, at all. A logical step for you might be an Enforcer2. 46trim (T4 wheel) in the stock housing with a stage2 turbine in a .63 housing. Bolts right up.
