bought a rebuild kit for my TII garrett from gpopshop and finally installed the kit today. it completely eliminated endplay and the instructions they provide are great. highly recommended kit.

before rebuilting it you should find a shop to balance the shaft and turbines , its not expensive and its a good waranty for a long life of your turbo !

gpop shop on here would be able to do it for you. Good guys and great prices

If you did a good job of marking the alignment of the compressor wheel to the compressor nut to the turbine shaft, and you were able to get it assembled in the same orientation, then you should be fine with balance. If there is ANY damage on the comp or turbine wheel it's best to have it balanced.

I must once again point out that rebalancing is not as important as you think. I rebuilt the turbo on my daily driver myself, without having it rebalanced. I even used a compressor wheel from a different turbo because the original was in really bad shape. Even the replacement had a fin with a chunk missing, so i ground an equal sized piece off the opposite side and smoothed it all out. 3 years and probably well over 10k miles later and it is still working perfect.
If you have no experience with the subject at hand and just want to form opinions, please let everyone know that, so that those of us with real experience can be taken seriously.

I had similar results, rebuilt a mitsu, didnt mark the wheel or rebalance, and had 0 issues
