by setting it you mean adjusting the threaded rod. you can set it how ever you want to.
shortening the rod will make the spring tension strong raising the boost, lengthening the rod will make it weaker lowering the boost.
this is how i have mine at the moment, with no vaccuum line to it.
just an example--if you set it at 18 (no vac line) and try to run a manual boost controller 18 is the max, you can adjust lower from there. or 26 or what ever.
then again i dont know what kind of spikeing issues and boost creep a guy will have without a line, i haven't got to test much on my glh, but this week i will.
the man gus ran stuff this way so its not a bad idea
