probe was from RJC racing and can be found here:

EGT Gages

my peak EGT at WOT at about 15 psi is 1690F

unfortunately my autometer gauge only goes up to 1600F. i measured the above temperature with an omega HH11 handheld thermocouple meter.

I had the TRE probe and would hit near 1700 at the end of a run on a hot day climbing FAST. I found a solution to that.... spray it! lol then they never went over 1600

I put the gauge on it because a bit later in the month we are doing a stage 2 set up, Mopar exhaust, CAI, and some leaning ouut of the system...wanted a base line. I guess these cars are a lot different than our old school cars.
Actually, I mistyped...the EGT was 1650 when I hit 120 mph at WOT and still climbing. Yesterday at the drag strp the EGT would reach a max of 1450 at the finish line. As far as old Matchbox, I leaned it out to get it at 1400 at the finish line and it did not like it...had a small surging right at that point...I richened it up to a bit richer than it used to be and now it is consistent and happy at EGTs in the 1340-1270 range.

I have an intercooled 90 2.5 with a tII garrett, 2.5 downpipe, no cat and 3in exhaust. used to run 20 psi and my egts where just like lametec's. never melted anything. I have bigger injectors now and retarded the ignition to about 9 degrees and it rarely gets that high now. usually stays around 1450 now.

Mines been hot plenty of times too ... just south of 1600* You've noticed the engine is more responsive.
There is a compromise between running cool and generating enough heat to drive that turbo nicely.
