89 voyager 137,xxx miles fresh headgasket stock t1 mitsu

smokes when it sits and you rev it up and get the turbo spinning and it goes away, just curious if this is a good sign the turbo is on its way out. gives me a reason to put a newer t2 on it

How's the PCV system? What oil return line did you use?

its got a factory orange silicone drain and the pcv is stock with the line hanging a few inches from the ground. dipstick never lifts and it doesnt drip a drop of oil ever

blown turbo at least exhaust side shows like this: when engine is started cool there will be no blue smoke. it will start to smoke when the turbo/exhaust starts to heat up.

If it's a piston/ring/seal issue it will smoke immediately.

To check compressor side, look inside intake pipes, there should be loads of oil everywhere.

Looking at the vid it looks like turbo.

Looks like turbo, try even removing the inlet pipe and check for play on the shaft, it's probably very large now.

You can get it rebuilt usually around $300-400... but it's a Mitsu, so is it worth a rebuild.. naah.
