ok i guess i'll just start out w/ this. I recently bought a 86 laser and it was in a fairly poor shape but for $200 i thought it was a steal till i seen the turbo but i asked some friends about it but i guess i should ask the professionals ehh?

I got a T1 that when u spin it its ok but it moves slightly up and down but not in and out (how safe is this) and how much play is there safely get back asap need to know.

(p.s) rest of car is emaculate in terms of looks might need some engine bay work though.

THIS WAS IN THE TEST FORUM BUT I WAS STUPID AND DIDNT THINK WERE I WAS BEFORE I POSTED

The wheel shouldnt move up and down at all. The seals and bearings are shot. The least expensive route is to buy a new or rebuilt cartridge and rebuild your turbo. Here are some websites.

Hope this helps

Wow, $200 for a Laser. I know they aren't worth much, but for that low of price, that car should give you plenty of stuff to work on for years . I speak from experience and mine was well taken car of it's entire life. I'd say get a new or rebuilt turbo.
It's good to hear of another Laser out there.
