Common sense tells me that it would have cost more if a tune-up had been done recently. While performing the tune-up, I check everything under the hood & go from there. Other than that, no WAG's from me. The SWAG (Scientific Wild-Ass Guess) system rarely, if ever, works.
As one who regularly buys $200 cars for fun, I agree with everything you just said.

The OP didn't give any real info - like he wanted us to guess

Guessing is fun though - Whenever I "venture a guess" on here, It should be taken as "here's some stuff to think about / look at 'cause enough info hasn't been provided"

If everyone had knowledge, tools, and resources this would be a very boring place

Yeah, from my experience, no punctuation is normal down there. Let me guess, you don't use your blinker, either. I lived in Asheboro, NC for 10 years & I swear the only time I saw a turn signal was because it was on when the car was purchased & the owner didn't know how to turn it off. I'm glad you figured it out! Don't let us crabby TD'ers scare you off, we're kind of a bunch of smart asses. Stick around & this place will kinda grow on you.... LIKE MOLD So, welcome!

before you buy any parts for the car id do a compression test. verify mechanical integrity first. tune up wont do shyt for a blown head gasket! sounds like you may have found some of the problems already. vacuum lines are a curse on these cars. search "vacuum block" on here. that little mod gets rid of a lot if not all the vacuum headaches. after that do a tune up, replace all the filters, pcv valve, new plugs(champions-no platinum!) wires, cap , rotor ,fuel filter, etc. change out all the fluids- engine, trans, coolant, and a fresh t-stat. dump a bottle of good fuel system cleaner in the first couple tanks of gas -sea foam works great! if it still runs like crap after all that then report back here and tell us exactly what you did and what its doing. the more info we have the better we're gonna be able to help you.

no blinkers in N.C.? huh, i guess thats were all asian women learn to drive in this country. sure would explain a lot.....

I don't know if it's because he's from "Noth Klina" or that he races a Cheby that he has issues. It'll all work out fine if/when he finds out that the substitute for cubic inches is called "BIG BOOST & FAT FUEL".
Welcome to Turbo Dodge!!!
