This car when i bought it a yr ago, has ran great, except
after it warms up(10min driving or 10 miles) it will
suddenly drop it's rpms especially at idle, at this point,
check eng. light come on due to low oil press reading, i
think because of the low idle? Been driving this way 1Yr.
I'v changed o2sensor-no change. Recently, the car took
a big dive, it stalls an barely runs, thought the map sens
but that didn't fix. Took to my local mech.Who said the wastegate is sticking at halfway point. He bypassed
somthing? So the wastegate stay's full open, it runs
without stalling now but makes a very loud WOOSH
ING sound when ever ya give it the gas! It still kicks way
down in rpm after warm up... I'm not a turbo buff..So,
Will what he did hurt the engine? Any ideas on what's
going on with this car?

I would go back and ask him what was up that he decided to leave the wastegate open.
Like is the turbo seized or something? There is definitely more to this story...

Thanks for the reply! Yeah what he did is cheesy for sure!! I'v
decided to go back& ask exactly what he bypassed so i can get
back to square 1 even if it won't run, then try to figure out
exactly the prob. so's i can fix it proper!
I do remember him saying "the wastegate sticking was robbing
vacume causing the engine to stall" anywho--thanx again for the
reply and will welcome greatfully any future ideas or tidbits of info.
Later!

OK, I'm curious to hear exactly what he says... and if it doesn't make sense to you, have him explain it better. Then come back here and run it by us to see if he was BS'ing you.

ya that is kinda interesting.
I think there is something else wrong with the car.
You might wanna go ahead and change the oil pump for the sake of doin it.
If you are following your gauge in the car, half of them go bad and never give anything near accurate so put a manual gauge on the car for a bit and see if it really is dropping. If it is then I would replace the pump (but maybe thats just me)
Low idle can be reset. THere is a sticky for it in the help section IIRC
When totally warm my baron would run about 650-800 rpm.
So unless you are below that 650 point then I think you are alright

Yeah, that oil pump thing's been on my mind too, think i will
change it...as for the mech who did the band-aid fix, i have to
wait till monday to talk to him, so i'll get back to ya'll on that one.
I was gonna sell this car, as i have another ride.. But i really like
it, so i may just make it a project, pull the motor&rebuild it, plus that
seem to be the easiest access to work'n on that turbo...
be a while off to start all that, no place to do it right now...

Heres a thread on it on dodgecharger.com.
Its a charger meet (any charger from 66-2008 on) and we meet up and chill! Its really an awesome group of people.
My dad will have the mythical creature (87 GLHS that never comes outa the garage) there.
Its cool.
If you are interested let me know it would be cool to meet up
