Turbo not boosting

Well its not going over 7lbs even with the boost controller closing the line all the way. Its an 89 2.5 all stock. I have just put an intercooler on it also. I have never even driven the car before I swapped the motor in. I redid all the vac lines also. So why can't I get anymore boost out of it, vac. leaks or what. Could I have messed up the wastegate some how? Everything else is fine, a/f is good also. I am pretty sure that the vac. lines are good and the intercooler piping is good too.

Thanks

check all your hose clamps on your IC piping..

I took mine off the other week and put it back on, I forgot to tighten one of the hoseclamps and it was leaking (I could hear it) but i couldn't get much more than 5-7psi. Jumped out of the car, popped the hodd and tightened that hose clamp (all done while still moving) and away i went with 12psi of boost...

LOL

oh yeah, another thing you could try... get soapy water and put it on your IC piping and rev the engine, watch to see if can make bubbles anywhere

Thats the only thing I would guess limiting my boost but I am not hearing any leaks, going to have to try the soap and water thing.

You may not get more than 7 psi if the comp dosen't want it to. I'm not sure what the boost controller is...... is that a stock component? if you trace the vacuum line that goes either between the waste gate solenoid and the waste gate actuator, or the waste gate solenoid and its vacuum source(one of the two) you will find an orifice. remove the orifice and put a vacuum hose in its' place. This will allow you to get more boost. ALOT more boost, so be carefull!!!! If you reach enough boost pressure, the MAP sensor will send an over boost signal to the computer and the computer will cut the fuel momentarily and a code will be set. you have to remember that when you boost, any vacuum line(except the ones with check valves) is no longer at vacuum, but at boost pressure. most systems use the boost pressure to open the waste gate via the vacuum line plus exhaust pressure. the waste gate solenoid is actuated by the computer only to relieve boost pressure from the system.

Well it turns out I am a retard, the rubber cupling I had used had a slit in it . The car would actually have good boost when cold but when it warmed up it died out.
