On a completely stock car there isn't a whole lot of gain. But once you start modding, you'll see higher #'s. 89 T1's ran no intercooler, about 7-9psi, 150Hp and 180ft.lbs. 89 T2's ran an intercooler, about 11psi, 174Hp and 194ft.lbs. Each psi is worth roughly 7hp on a stock car, I made 10hp per psi on my Lancer. So you can see that there isn't a huge difference in power #'s between the T2 and the T1. Last year I was running 18psi on my stock T2 engine with the intercooler in it's stock location and I ran a 14.8 at 92 or so. Then I mounted the intercooler in the nose and by just doing that I ran a 14.5 at 95. I'm sure there was some other factors in making me run faster, but you see what I mean. Plus the i/c doesn't get heat soaked while your waiting in the staging lanes when it's mounted in the nose.
All and all, it's worth it.

My 1985 Shelby Charger ran an 8.79 on 15 psi with a basic turbo 2 conversion. That's rougly a 13.50 in the 1/4 mile. I had a stock Shelby Z intercooler and converted turbo 1 turbo, and a one piece intake manifold. I bumped it up to 18 psi and it was a totally different animal. I just never got it to the track over 15 psi. Check out this website: http://fwdmopar.50megs.com/javaindex.html
