Ok, i have lots of friends with lots of differant cars. I get asked "What kind of turbo did that thing come with anyway?". I always say "A Garrett T3". Am i mis-informing all of my buds? I just remember somewhere that said the 85-86 Turbo-1 engines came with the equivalent to a Garret T3. Right or wrong? If wrong, how the hell should i be answering this question? Thanks!

I knew that the later T-1 cars has the mitsu and the earlier ones had a Garrett but i was unsure as to which Garrett turbo it was.

Thanks! Apparently, the Garrett T3 is pretty big. Everyone always comments on the fact that a T3 sounds pretty big.

It is a fairly good size... it's the same size turbo that is on all the T2 cars... Daytona Shelby/Shelby Z, GLHS, CSX, etc... only the housings are a tad different.

The turbine side housing (same .48 ratio as T2) is missing a notch to clear the non-log intake manifold runners. The compressor side housing intake has that flat surface with bolt holes to mount that 90 degree elbow piece that points straight up to mate to the old-style-log-intake throttlebody... and the compressor housing discharge also points up to mate to the log manifold.

The T2 Garretts' intake have a neck to slip a hose on and the discharge points up and towards the front of the car for easier routing of the IC hoses.

Definately a much better turbo than the Mitsu... but with the .48 ratio turbine housing... maybe just a tad bit more lag than the Mitsu.
