Hi, i just had a thought. I am kinda a newbie, and i am getting ready to put a bigger turbo on my 2.5 TI, getting rid of the tiny mitsu, but then i came to thinking....if all i plan on boosting is about 14-15 ( i dont want to do another headgasket) will i get the same power (hp) from boosting to 14psi with the teo4h mitsu, or using a super 60 @ 14psi. Will i even get a power increase using the same boost level and a bigger turbo? What other pro's does a larger turbo have?
thanks, and sorry for the dumb question!

If 14 psi is all the boost you want to run, stick with the Mitsu. It has a lot less lag, and is funner on the street.

But to answer your question, the Super 60 turbocharger will be delivering much more airflow than the Mitsu TE04H at the equivalent boost level. The Mitsu would also be delivering much hotter air, since it has to spin much faster than the Super 60. It isn't as efficient at higher boost levels.

At 14psi the only advantage you'll get is cooler discharge air since it doesn't have to work as hard, thus more power. Headgaskets are not a concern with this upgrade. There will be a noticable increase in turbo lag though. A Super 60 was designed for 18psi or so. That's why it came in a package with a 3bar map sensor, injectors and a custom computer calibration that could handle it all.

i put a mitsu on my 2.5 out of necessity (had it and the garret went slop). all i can say is GREAT spool up. freakin fun. if all your looking for is 14 psi, i'd say go for it. as for the discharge temp, just intercool it. i won't change mine until it blows or i'm ready for more boost than it can make.

well staying that small, you dont need a bigger turbo.. you will get almost instantainisou boost with the mistu. and more lag with the bigger turbo. 14PSI is just about 14psi.. boost is back preasure.. it doesnt matter if i am blowing 14PSI through a 1inche pipe with my breath or with a 135PSI air compressor. 14psi of back preasure is 14PSI of back preasure. the bigger one will make more power becuase it isnt working as hard and you will get less exhuast back preasure.. you will just have to check compresor maps..
but if i wernt going much more than that i would stay with the mistu. the boost is connected to the throttle plate..
