the car : 1990 daytona shelby 2.5 auto mods - free-flowing exhaust (no cat and glasspack) and Faze air/fuel and boost gauge.

the problem : when I got the car, the wastegate was completely disconnected - there was no vac line on the wastegate can nipple - and I was only getting about 5 psi of boost, with AND without the line hooked up. I think the problem is either the wastegate actuator is weak, or the bov is leaking (I have a pretty loud "pssh" sound and I hear a faint leak while under boost.) On a side note, the pin holding the wastegate arm into the actual wastegate is loose, but it holds.

I have another turbo that is blown, but the wastegate seems to be fine and the air box assembly with the bov. I am replacing the air box half this weekend, but I'd like to have all of your thoughts on what the problem is and if I have missed anything that could be the culprit.

Check all your intake plumbing and clamp tightness. Could also be a weak wastegate can, try swapping it out.

Wastegate can or the clamp around the turbo is loose is what I'm guessing.
