I actually own an 89 Spirit 2.5 T1 (mitsu turbo) .. was hoping you could help me with injectors/boost/turbo/etc...

What I am wanting to do by late june is add an intercooler and raise my boost from stock (I believe 7psi) to 14psi.

I will be junkyard hunting looking for an intercooler, blow-off valve, and anything else you guys might suggest.

Anyways my main questions are as follows:

Can I raise boost to 14psi safely with no major mods? Will my injectors work at 14psi or will I need different ones?
What exactly is involved in raising the boost to 14psi? What lines will I have to tap/bleed etc?
Will my computer/fuel pressure regulator make up for the difference in fuel requirements from the 7 to 14psi boost jump or will I need something else new? (pressure regulator, fuel pump, etc?)

And are there any other major concerns?

If you guys can give me as much specific information as possible I would appreciate it =) I will go to the junkyard and hunt for what is necessary and buy what I cannot find at a junkyard. So please be as specific as possible! Thanks guys!

get a boost gauge and a/f meter, grainger valve, twist to 13 psi, keep it safe. there you have it,you comp should supply to around 14.7 if i am not mistaken. but w/o cooler or pump its best to run 13 psi.it as simple as that.

I am going to be adding an intercooler... grainger valve (and a turbo gauge while adding the grainger) and an a/f gauge - those were in my plans

and would my stock pump run me up to 14psi or would I need a new one to go past 13? 14 is my goal and I will not be going past that.

check out http://kcar.mine.nu/ to see what I plan on doing exactly + a little more than that.

Anyways my main worries were about injectors...

I was looking at gus mahon's grainger valve setups for boost controlling... I will most likely grab an intercooler set that all up and work on raising my boost to 14.

http://home.earthlink.net/~turbogus4/boostcontrol.html I wanna use the switched control (the manual one... third from the top) for my car... way I figure it put it in the low setting for the launch and switch it.

On that diagram... I would want to put my boost gauge vacuum T right after the intake manifold on that line before anything else I am assuming or am I incorrect in assuming this?

And for the low-setting bleed on that setup I am guessing the restrictor keeps all of the boost from rushing out all at once?

AS long as your stock fuel pump is in good working order, everything is alright,as i said before these cars can handle 14.7 psi with stock everything and be o.k. you wouldn't even need to intercool at that point. it would be of great help tho.

as for your boost gauge,i just tee'd mine into the small hose on the throtle body, works like a charm.

you'll only need a new pump and injectors once running more than 14.7

This is how I hooked up my gauge, at the brake booster. I run a boost controller aka grainger valve from www.dawesdevices.com 14psi with 91+octane fuel, and you should be fine.

I think I will go with the throttle body boost gauge... It's closer to the intake/cylinders therefore I think it would give me a more accurate boost reading...

Thanks all for the info!

There both equally accurate,so have no worries there, had i actually knopw where the brake booster was and where to t from there i might have used that to keep it out of eye sight.
