How long do you leave your turbo cool before turning off your car?

I never race through my neighborhood (and no one should!) so that gives my turbo a nice cool down. When I park, I let it idle for at least 30 seconds while I get my stuff together (briefcase, etc). I also use synthetic oil so I feel confident it won't cook on the bearings and return line.

I don't hammer on my car the last 5 mins of travel either, so when I pull in the driveway it's already cool enough to shut down. If I do drive more spirited in town, I'll let the car idle for one complete fan cycle. That's about as cool as it gets.

I usually listen to the next song on the CD. That is plenty of time for the turbo to cool.

i usually coast for about 2 blocks then roll infront of my house, gather my crap and walk to the house and shut the car off as i'm walking into my house, via my remote starter. It' slike a manual turbo timer I'd say this is about 1 min, that's usually only when i know the car will sit for quite a while, if i'm leaving within an hour or so i probably let it cool down for 30 sec. And i almost never rag on my car close to home.

what car and what turbotimer do you have?

I want one of the HKS Type1 Turbotimers but there is no harness so I dunno how I would install it other than dropping it off at Ziebart or somewhere???

How did you get yours in?

i have an HKS Type-0 in my 85 Laser. there isnt a harness available, so i did it the old fashioned way. took awhile to find the right wires to splice, but all-in-all, took me about 2.5-3hrs to put in. (didnt find an ECU diagram till i was already almost done )
