No wonder my Shadow project felt so doggy, 0 boost because the wastegate arm fell off...

What is *supposed* to hold it on??

Any tricks to reattach it on the car??

Looks like a hassle!!

yeah get another mitsu turbo to look at while your hand is reached eather behind the intake manifold or while your laying underneath the car.

make sure when you put it back on to push/pull it to the top so it doesn't fall off so easy.

you sure about 0 boost? on my bro's mini the arm fell off and we couldn't figure out why we were only making 3psi at WOT near redline. Even with the arm off you should be making some boost not much more than 4psi though.

Take the part of the wastegate with the arm and the hole at the end and put it on the flapper valve. You will have to feel around until you can feel the swinging valve. Put that end on on the valve and secure it with a clip. Then pull the rod toward you (by the canister part) and attach that end to the turbo housing. If it is like the garretts it will have two bolts.

I second that...Radio Shack sells two sizes of all-metal alligator clips, get the larger ones...I have had one on my Garrett for about two years...really easy to get on/off. Its been a while since I've looked at a mitsu's arm, but as long as it has the ridge for the c-clip, the alligator clip should do the trick.

The dang Mitsu arm attaches from the BOTTOM, so it falls off because of that gravity thing...

I'll engineer a solution tonight.

Depending on year, the mitsu arm attached from the bottom or the top. I think it was '88 down and '89 up. Don't recall which was up or down, though.

LOL....Ken? that was Mike's car your thinking of. What I did to solve the falling wastegate rod was to slightly put a upward bend in the rod so that it had a little angle to it right in front of the hole. I unbolted the canister from the housing and then attached the arm to the swingvalve.....the upward bend ment that I had to do this first.....then I bolted the canister back to the compressor housing.....never had another problem out of it.
