what should I do so I don't shear any bolts? I already have the compressor housing off but I went to go turn one of the exhaust housing bolts and it wasn't budging so I sprayed it with some penetrating spray.

I have access to a propane torch but not 100% about heating it up to get them out.... would I just try to warm the bolt up without warming up the surround areas. would the water to ice effect apply to metal?
the colder an object is the more space it takes up(slower moving molecules) and the warmer it is the faster moving the molecules are so they are closer together?

water is the only object that expands when it gets colder

when metal gets cold it shrinks get's closer to each other... just like a pack of people in antactica would... if they were all cold they would pack together to stay warm... And if it was hot - who would want to be in a big group.

The way the torch works is by heating the metals up to where they expand. Like hitting the bolt with a hammer and breaking it loose except a little more thorough. I have used a torch to break loose several bolts... Make sure all of your penetrating oil is gone first tho =) And don't overdo it!

I don't figure using the torch on the exhaust housing of a turbo would cause a problem seeing how the turbo can regularly see temps as high as 1600 degrees at the exhaust side (and that is probably the reason for the stubborn bolts)

yesh me has all but one bolt out, well its out but can't go any further due to the water inlet part on the center...

its straight on the back of the turbo (T2) if it were on the car... that one bolt is holding me up (I think). All the bolts are loosened and most are off except this one and another one because there is stuff in the way of taking them all the way out.

is it necessary to take the bolts all the way out?
should my exhaust housing come off now? I didn't wanna bang on it too hard but should I heat it up with the torch and then wham on it to get it to fall off?

I don't know about that =) But I am sure somebody else does - I wouldn't mess with it till somebody responds because you don't wanna go getting a new turbo housing =) Or drilling & tapping new threads & getting new bolts =)

I dont understand how they even get those stupid bolts in there from factory!
Some of the bolts cannot back out far enough to get out of the threads, WTF?!
With my turbo where the center section seats in the exhaust housing it was stuck really good. I put it in the vice, holding only the center section and pounded on the exhaust housing going top bottom side side and remembering to loosen the bolts as it comes apart. Worked good.

For a stripped bolt, i took a box end of a spare wrench and grinded the end of it thinner so i could use the box end as to where i would only be able to fit the open end.

I believe your talking about the exhaust turbine housing, right? If you are removing both the compressor and exhaust turbine housings the first thing to do is mark both housings and the center section so when you reassemble the unit the housings line up with your intake and exhaust plumbing (I use a center punch, that way the marks aren't accidently removed). You said the one bolt was hitting the fitting on the center section, is it one of the bolts holding the flat housing clamp in place? If it is, tighten it up a little so it's not hitting the fitting. Soak the parting line between the center section and the turbine housing well with penetrating oil and let it sit for a couple hours. Then taking a hammer lightly tap on the turbine housing, going around it in a circular motion (so it doesn't get crooked and jam) until it loosens from the center section, now you can rotate the bolt so it is out in the open.
Hope this helps, Don't forget to mark the orientation of the housings.

I got it all apart with the help of to propane torches and my dad arm swinging a mallot.

those bolt around the exhaust housing have to be backed out after you break it loose (housing) and slowly back it off while backing out the bolts.
