So what would I actually gain by adding a bov, would I be better off saving my $$ and spending it on a bigger IC or Bigger exhaust setup???

you will gain a lot of life on your turbo, when cruising your turbo is spinning, fast, when you close the butterfly on your throttle body the pressure has no where to go, hence forth your bov, do yourself a favor and get one, I left mine out on my automatic and my new turbo went to sh.t in about 2000 miles.

I had 176,000 on my last turbo without a BOV.

It is nice to have, and it does keep you spooled up during shifting, but it is definitely no substitute for cooling your engine after spirited driving IMHO.

my garage has been used for a new tranny install and a new clutch install in the last week! you should get your butt down to porkys this weekend.. i am gonna be down there with my new spirit while my csx is getting a little break and freshening up..

and BTW.. get a bov.. although sometimes your turbo will last a while without it, but it is definatly good insurance to have so your turbo lasts as long as it can..once you start making your car run even more boost than you are it is nice to know you arent hurting your turbo.. and you can get a good talon bov for like $50 or less

ever listen to the nasty chattering sounds your car makes when you shift while in boost. That's air ramming into the compressor wheel in the wrong direction. a bov will vent pressure while the throttle plate is closed. and your turbo is not suspect to this unnecessary thrashing.

A turbo can last a long time w/o a bov, heck T2's never came with one. But it is a good idea to have one, it's only helping. And if you care it sounds hella cool

As you increase boost the need for a BOV goes waaaaayyyyyyy up...

Ever shift at 6000rpm and hear the shaft on your turbo snap right the F*** in two?
GET A BOV

Yeah compressor surge is not cool, I sort of feel a little pain when I hear it

My Daytona has 147k miles on it with no BOV and runs strong. I will be adding a talon BOV soon though
