I saw a message one of my mailing lists pertaining to parting out cars for their turbo assemblies and using them on our rides. I was wondering what kind of "hybrid" turbo can we make just by find visiting the neighborhood junkyard and possibly getting lucky with a few good finds. What can be swapped out without buying any parts. I belive someone stated that the exhuast housing on a SVO would be a descent upgrade for either a TII or a TIII turbo I cant remember for sure. If anyone knows this kind of stuff please share.

The exhaust housing on an SVO or Tbird is either .48 or .63 (on the 5spds) BOTH of these share a totally different swingvalve pattern than our dodge housings. The ford swingvalve points straight up. (exact opposite of ours)
If you insist on using an SVO or Tbird Turbo you must

-grind off, drill, and tap holes to bolt your turbo to a Dodge Exhaust manifold.
-Take a zip cut, and cut the ford swingvalve flange off, and weld it in place of a dodge swingvalve.
-SS Lines
-Make a pipe to clear the cylinder head.

If your going to do that you will have to make an adapter to bolt or weld onto the exhaust manifold, and angle the turbo wayyy down... may have firewall clearance issues.

What kind of performance upgrades could there be from the SVO compressor side. It looks to me that it would move more air than our factory dodge pieces. Am I somewhere on the right track here? Let me know.
